Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Wolfgang Puck take ceremonial first bites on Friday during a kickoff for dineLA Restaurant Week.

After a successful spring campaign, dineLA Restaurant Week returns on Sunday for its first fall run. Over 200 restaurants around Los Angeles -- and just over 40 Downtown -- will be participating in the program, in which eateries offer meals at three set price points.

To promote the program, dineLA has jumped on the food truck craze. Chef John England of Rosa Mexicana hops aboard on Friday, offering free samples at 7th and Hope from 11am to 2pm.

At a kickoff event last Friday, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa praised the program. "We've got to promote what I believe are some of the finest restaurants in the world," said the Mayor.

The restaurants participating fall into one of three price categories: Deluxe Dining ($16 lunch / $26 dinner), Premiere Dining ($22 / $34) and Fine Dining ($28 / $44). The program runs October 4 - 9 and 11 - 16.

Those looking to catch the dineLA truck tomorrow can find up-to-the-minute data at twitter.com/dineLA. More information about the dineLA program can be found on its website.

There has been plenty of press on the recently opened restaurants in Downtown. All the power to their continued success.

I think I'll head to St. Vincent's Court or Lula Kabob for a full meal for > $5. I shall continue supporting my local eateries' success.

I went last year to Provecho and am going to Drago Centro this year. It's a great way to try expensive high end restaurants without paying the full price. Chaya Downtown is another must try. Make this your celebration dinner without the as-high cost.

I will be heading to Zucca. Only one $. Cheap way to visit a restaurant I had never been to.
