DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Erik Dixon has some pretty strong Downtown credentials. He spent much of his childhood at the Brewery Art Colony, where his mom got a place in 1986. After a stint away, Dixon's now been back Downtown long enough for his three year old daughter to have spent her entire life in the neighborhood. He says that she had to get over a fear of grass after being around all that concrete.

It's fair to say that when Dixon opened his clothing store 1Man's Trash at 7th and Main last week, he had done his homework on the neighborhood.

Dixon has used the 1Man's Trash moniker on custom work, dressing a list that includes Ellen Degeneres, Usher, Missy Elliot, and Anthony Hamilton.

The shop will stock both his own garments and vintage pieces. Pricing runs the spectrum, with everything from $20 t-shirts to $695 re-designed vintage. Both men's and women's items are represented.

1Man's Trash is located on the ground floor of the SB Main at 7th and Main, a corner that has long been a little on the sketchy side. The building's retailing spaces, though, are starting to turn into a bit of a fashion center. Another clothing store has opened on the 7th street side of the building, and 4th street's Freemont Apparel Co is said to be making a move in as well.
