Central Area Weekly Update: October 10, 2009

Each week Captain Blake Chow, Commanding Officer of LAPD's Central Division, sends out an email to the community. Captain Chow has agreed to let blogdowntown bring his emails to our readers.

As of Oct 10, 2009 Central reported the following crime numbers. All numbers are YTD unless otherwise noted.

  • Violent Crime down 5 percent
  • Homicides are even
  • Rapes are down 15 percent
  • Robbery is down 2 percent
  • Agg Assaults down 8 percent.

  • Property Crime is down 6 percent

  • Burglary is down 20 percent
  • Grand Theft Auto is down 25 percent
  • Burgl from Motor vehicle is down 0 percent
  • Personal Theft is down 1 percent

Total Part I Crimes are down 6 percent for the division.

One patterns of note.

Several burglary from motor vehicles have been seen in the southeast corner of the Division. In the area bounded by Alameda/4th Street and the River, suspects have been breaking into vehicles parked in the street at all hours taking anything of value left in plain view.

CPAB Meeting is on Oct 20th at 830 am. Pico House. City Attorney Carmen Trutacnich will be our speaker.
