A model walks the runway in the ballroom of the Los Angeles Theatre during Fremont's Spring 2010 show, part of L.A. Fashion on Broadway.

L.A. Fashion on Broadway made full use of the Los Angeles Theatre, placing shows in the lobby, on the stage and in the basement ballroom Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

The closing night lineup was anchored by Downtown-based Fremont Apparel Co., which showed a clean, preppy-inspired spring collection with plenty of shorts, flirty dresses and scarves.

Plaids and polka dots each made appearances, as did a trench coat sporting 1980s shoulder pads.

Just before Future Heretics' show started, paper-bagged 40's of Colt 45 were distributed to those in the front row. The collection that followed offered garments in a similarly distressed state. 80s influences produced punky, shredded pieces with zippers, but a more organic color palette. Guys' garb appeared to shoot for dirty and unkempt. Jackets and vests were found in abundance.

Mike Vensel's "wild horses" collection is made of pieces composed out of a single piece of fabric. The minimalist, body conscious looks had the designer surrounded by fashion blogger press after his 6pm show on the Los Angeles' stage.

Mike Vensel's garments are so chic. He is one of my favorite designers.
