Central Area Weekly Update: October 17, 2009

Each week Captain Blake Chow, Commanding Officer of LAPD's Central Division, sends out an email to the community. Captain Chow has agreed to let blogdowntown bring his emails to our readers.

As of Oct 17, 2009 Central reported the following crime numbers. All numbers are YTD unless otherwise noted.

  • Violent Crime down 7 percent.
  • Homicides are even;
  • Rapes are down 15 percent;
  • Robbery is down 5 percent
  • Agg Assaults down 9 percent.

  • Property Crime is down 6 percent

  • Burglary is down 19 percent
  • Grand Theft Auto is down 25 percent
  • Burgl from Motor vehicle is down 0 percent
  • Personal Theft is down 1 percent

Total Part I Crimes are down 7 percent for the division.

NOTE:

The new Police Facility Building will be holding the ribbon cutting ceremony this Saturday October 24 at 10AM. The event will feature displays as well as food. The public is welcome to attend.

Central will be hosting an open house, on the same night as artwalk on November 12 from 6-9 pm. Static displays, food and station tours will be conducted. I've attached a flier completed by our CPAB events committee for more information.
