DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — The Amgen Tour of California announced its 2010 host cities this morning, using Twitter as the forum for a scripted conversation between Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and four top American cyclists.
Downtown Los Angeles will be host for Stage 7, a time trial and the race's penultimate stage.
The twitter conversation, which was kicked off by Schwarzenegger (@schwarzenegger) at 8:30am, also included Lance Armstrong (@lancearmstrong), Levi Leipheimer (@levileipheimer), George Hincapie (@ghincapie) and Dave Zabriskie (@dzabriskie.
Previous races have been held in February, but the 2010 race will take place May 16 - 23. Downtown's stage will take place on Saturday, May 22, and will begin and end at L.A. Live.
The Tour of California is owned by AEG, the developer of the L.A. Live entertainment complex.

How long are these kinds of courses?

Last year's Stage 6 individual time trial in Solvang was 15 miles. I would assume that this would be similar.

I'm so excited for this!! The closest this race has gotten to downtown is Pasadena in previous years. A time trial is a race against the clock, usually distances are less than 20 miles.
