Around the Halls: November 9 - 13

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Today is Monday, November 9. A City Council committee will hear from LAPD Chief-Nominee Charlie Beck this morning, but a full confirmation is not expected to take place until the 17th, after the Council returns from the National League of Cities’ annual conference in San Antonio, TX.
Beck was announced as Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's choice for the position last week. He will appear in front of the Council's Public Safety committee on Monday morning.
Villaraigosa has been pushing for a quick confirmation, but Council is on recess Tuesday through Friday. The Council's next meeting would be on Tuesday, November 17.
Elsewhere in City Hall, the L.A. Live Olympic North plan that we wrote about in September goes to City Planning Commission on Thursday. Public hearing was already held on September 30.
