LAPD Chief Charlie Beck addresses members of the Central City East Association's safety team.

Before stepping in for a private luncheon with Central City East Association board members and LAPD Central Division Command, Chief Charlie Beck took time to speak to the CCEA and Arts District BID safety team, lined in formation to greet the new chief.

“I appreciate the work you do,” said Beck, telling them that he has known their work since his days at Central. Beck then joined newly appointed Captain Todd Chamberlain inside.

Also attending the luncheon was Commander Blake Chow, sporting a single star on his collar as designation of his new duties. Chow reported that he was recently sworn-in, and the formal ceremony front of family, friends, and assorted brass is scheduled for January 7, 2:30pm, at the Police Administration Building Auditorium.

That's great to see that Chief Beck recognized the downtown BIDs. There are BIDs all over Los Angeles that do such a great job on improving our communities.

The BIDs in downtown LA have been extremely instrumental in improving the community from both a public safety perspective and also a quality of life perspective. The two go hand in hand. They have made a huge difference and are an invaluable asset to our mission.
