L.A. Live's Ritz Tower Getting Prepped for Raves?

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Strange lights on the 54-story Ritz Carlton tower at L.A. Live last night had Downtowners wondering what was up. Was the multi-color glow an attempt to signal landing aircraft? Was it prep for a future rave to be held at the entertainment complex?
Turns out it was neither. AEG spokesman Michael Roth says the lights were a demo of lighting packages the company is considering for the tower's grand opening on February 15, 2010.
Roth says that several lighting firms are interested in the challenge, and that last night's display of programmed colors and effects was simply one of those companies coming in to show off what it can do.
No decision has yet been made on what the lighting package for the grand opening will end up looking like. What is clear, though, is that the display will be a one-time affair. Downtowners shouldn't expect the stately Ritz to put on a nightly technicolor light show.

The light show was VERY cool. I'm really excited about the grand opening of this place.

I am really looking forward to the grand opening of LA Live! I was there on the day of ground breaking, and it's amazing to see how much has changed in Downtown LA since Sept. 2005.
