Producers record an early December rehearsal for today's event. The two-day rehearsal is the only time those putting on the show get to see the performances before show time.
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Six hours of free entertainment comes to the Music Center this afternoon, as 1,500 performers create the 50th Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration. More than 40 acts will participate in the show, which will be broadcast live on KCET and KPFK (90.7FM).
Thinking about going? Crowds are expected to be high, but the event is a come-and-go affair. Pre-show activities start at noon on the Music Center Plaza, with the show itself starting at 3pm in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
The Music Center offers free parking for the day, and the show runs until 9pm.
A full schedule of acts can be found on the L.A. Times website. Downtown groups include the Colburn Children’s Choir, the Harmonies Girls Choir, the Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
More information can be found on the Music Center's website.

Free parking...uh..what about a free Metro pass? This event is located 2 blocks from the Civic Center station.

We walked to this last night and it was great! The lines were long but we still got in pretty quickly and the acts were fun, especially the rocking Klezmeer band. We also got to see Tia Carrere adjust the girls every five minutes which was amusing. Really fantastic way to spend Christmas Eve.
