Win Tickets to See the Pee-Wee Herman Show at Club Nokia
Ed Fuentes
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — While we often run giveaways here on blogdowntown, never have readers hounded us for free tickets like they have for Paul Reuben's upcoming four-week run at Club Nokia. We get it. You want tickets worse than Pee-wee wants to find his bicycle.
You're in luck. "The Pee-Wee Herman Show" runs January 12 - February 7 (tickets are on-sale now), and we've got tickets for some lucky fans to see the show on Wednesday, January 13.
The show is an all-new production featuring Pee-wee in a hilarious stage show that reunites him with his Playhouse Gang friends and follows him on his quest to fulfill his lifelong dream of flying. The roles of Miss Yvonne, Mailman Mike and Jambi are all being reprised by the original actors, with 11 actors and 19 puppets taking the stage in all.
Want to see the show? We've got five pairs of tickets to give away. Just leave a comment saying why you should win, and be sure to include an email address or Facebook account for us to contact you. Contest closes Monday, January 4, at 8pm.

please please please!! Large Marge helped find your engagement ring on a dark night like tonight. All she asks in return for this assistance is measly tickets to see a grown man in platform shoes talk to a genie.

I'd love to win a pair of these! I grew up watching Pee-wee. Every morning it was Pee-Wees playhouse for me, so getting a chance to see him on the big stage again would be simply amazing.

The Secret Word is... Tickets.
I am an enormous fan of Paul Reubens but not nearly as much as my lovely roommate Noelle. A few years back Noelle was hit by a car (she is totally fine now) and was laid up in bed for quite some time. Normally Noelle would spend her free time reading about the history of Los Angeles and building models (architecture student) but being rendered immobile by an SUV is apparently a massive bummer so Noelle didn't have the energy to read or build or go to the bathroom without assistance... What she did have the energy to do was watch every episode of Peewee’s Playhouse over and over again without tiring or skipping a laugh. That was a few years back and watching Peewee is still one of her favorite pastimes. I really want to be able to take her to see this and if she reacts at all like she did when we went to see the Cemetery Screening of Peewee's Big Adventure than I will spend the next month living with the happiest girl in the world. Also I will the URL to this blog as my status update for the entire month of January if I win. Not that it will be a guaranteed activity increase for the site but it's the thought that counts... right?

I LOVE Pee Wee! Growing up with him, and rediscovering him on Cartoon Network a few years ago, totally made me realize what a great childhood I had! I would love to win tickets just to relive that childhood that I loved!
Tim on December 31, 2009, at 01:31PM – #17
I don't know what a Peanut Butter Wolf is, or, for that matter, most of the acts that tickets are offered for. But I know Pee Wee, and I have been waiting for these tickets since October 08, 2009, when I commented (comment #2) on the the band mutemath (another band I never heard of and could only make a lame joke about) - http://blogdowntown.com/2009/10/4744-win-tickets-to-see-mutemath-at-club-nokia.

I would love to see Pee Wee on stage, although he was a little before my time, i still caught his show on reruns in cable. I loved Pee Wee's big adventure and have been known to once or twice try the "Tequila" dance while intoxicated! please pick me!
Kenny Benjamin on December 31, 2009, at 03:32PM – #19
If you give me the tickets, I will be a hero to my 16 year old daughter and I won't have to quit my job and move to Canada and open up a greeting card shop and eat only maple syrup everyday and never wear pants...
so there's that....

I cried in 1991 after Pee-wee's playhouse got cancelled due to "THAT" incident.
I didn't even understand what he did that was soo horrible and suddenly the show was gone and people started making fun of him. weep.. i was only 10 and it devastated me
I should win the tickets because look at my name "peenee" (been using it for a long time on blogdowntown) it was inspired by "peewee" this proves that i have been a true fan not just someone parachuting for free show tickets.
me me me me... pease let me "win"

My parents loved him, I grew up with his show, and I'm dying to win the tickets after I heard about the headaches everyone went through to pre-order them.

With Blogdowntown, you can win yourself a chair (like Chairry!)
And if you win a seat, you’ll have fun, I swear!
Yeah, Pee-wee's SO excited,
'cause all his friends have been invited (I hope!)
To go wacky, at Club Nokia!
There's a crazy rhythm, comin' off of Fig (where’s that?)
Near Chick Hearn Court, they’ll be a real shindig (yeah!)
Oh genie please grant my wish,
A pair of tickets would be delish… -
‘Cause I go cuckoo for Pee-wee's Playhouse!
At L.A. Live, there'll be lots of laughin'! (Ha Ha!)
With Pee Wee there, anything can happen -
So please give me an invite…
Cause’ its gonna be that kind of night -
For bein' wacky! For getting nutty!
I wanna be there! At Pee-wee's Playhouse!

I recently decided to move downtown with my wife to Barker Block- our first home! I've enjoyed this blog along the way and it played a part in my decision to live there. I really think we made the right choice moving back to the city. Go downtown! And yea, some Pee-wee tickets would be nice.

My husband and I saw pee wee in Houston 26 years ago - it was great - it's time to relive the experience!

I used to be a delivery boy for Victor's Liquor\Deli on Bronson. Had to do weekly deliveries to his pad in the hills when he was at his nadir. Pee Wee owes me goddammit!

I would like to have tickets to see Pee Wee at the Nokia. I watched P-W Playhouse when it was on and learned to many things from it. And Miss Yvonne too!! Should I be considered for tickets I promise to honour Pee Wee every day for a year by laughing and making nice with all my neighbours!

There are 20-somethings in my family whose wit and wisdom are gifts from Pee-wee Herman that we all cherish.
There could be no greater gift than more Pee-wee Herman in their lives.
How FABULOUS if this good father's wish for his children comes true simply because it comes from the heart.
Thanks for hearing my heart.

My wife is the HUGEST Pee-Wee fan, so I think she deserves a chance to see him live. She keeps talking about the live shows at LA Live and I know she really wants to go, but I can't get her to commit to buying tickets. If we won the tickets, she'd get off the fence and be delighted I'm sure. Personally, I thought Pee-Wee was great in Cheech and Chong's Next Movie, so, pretty please, give us some tickets and let us see the man at LA Live!
mel on January 02, 2010, at 05:45PM – #31
Yes, this is a request for tickets. Yes, I used to watch/love PeeWee. Yes, I remember when he got arrested, remember the raid at his home, remember his comeback performance in Blow (by Paul, that is). I even crossed paths with him at a screening of Warhol's Chelsea Girls at LACMA. So yes, I would like to see his show and I do consider him an entertainment icon.
But, the absence of Phil Hartman in the cast will be so sad, I don't know if I could handle it.

Pee Wee is awesome, and I'd love tickets to see him, especially so I could take my niece, who's an even bigger fan.
I must also mention my two all-time favorite bits of acting by Mr. Reubens:
His scenes as Rutger Hauer's minion in the film version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, particularly his protracted death scene
His inspired turn as a fatally-inbred prince, the last of the Hapsburgs, on the first season of 30 Rock

I can't think of anything that tops Arwen's story. I just like PeeWee's Playhouse. I grew up watching it and have fond memories of the show. I still dream of owning my own Chairy some day.

I would love to see the Pee Wee Herman show. I have been working downtown for 10 years and have only recently started exploring all that downtown LA has to offer after work hours. I would like to go to the Nokia Theater for the first time. Thank you.
Raul Borja on January 03, 2010, at 12:02PM – #35
If I win I may be willing to re-enact at the Nokia Theater Paul Reubens's arrest.

When I was in the 5th grade our teacher assigned each student in the class to write a letter to someone famous. I wrote to then President George HW Bush (the first and less worse one), but despite my best penmanship I never received a reply. My classmate Rachel, on the other hand, wrote to Pee Wee Herman and received a t-shirt autographed by the entire cast from Pee Wee's playhouse. At that tender young age, I lost faith in the political system but gained a high degree of admiration for that great American institution, Pee Wee Herman.
True story.

Winning a pair of tickets would be awesome! I am overwhelmed with how poplular this blog is getting. Too much competition for me! Anyways, I love Pee Wee and wanna support his residency here in Downtown LA. An OG Thanks BlogDowntown!

I quote PEE WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE several times a week. He's so much a part of my daily life. I'd kill to see him live, but I lost my job and am in debt for not being able to afford to live humbly when I DID have a job. I'm going for the pity angle. My favorite quote has to be "Paging Mr. Herman! Mr. Herman, you have a telephone call at the front desk!" in the deep overdubbed voice. Classic!

I dressed as Pee Wee every Halloween for at least 5 years as a kid and watched his movies at least once a week -- I was obsessed!
Eric Richardson (@blogdowntown) on January 04, 2010, at 09:08PM – #41
I'm closing off comments to pick some winners. With 40 entries you've all got a one in eight chance. Good luck!
