DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Today is Monday, January 11. Council calendars still feel a touch light, but on Tuesday filming issues pop up at Jobs committee and live/work changes are back at Planning. Wednesday's short council agenda features a marijuana discussion, so expect a heavy turnout there.
MONDAY: Public Safety and Budget and Finance committees meet.
Public Safety will hear CF 09-2895, a Rosendahl / Reyes motion that would prohibit the harassment of bicyclists.
TUESDAY: Council's in session, and four committees join it in posting agendas.
Jobs and Business Development committee will be focused on filming issues. They'll hear a report from the CLA on CF 09-3004, the motion to create a Los Angeles Film Commission. The written report recommends a nine member commission, which four appointees chosen by the Mayor's office and five chosen by Council.
Also up for a report is CF 07-1586, the film permitting RFP that went out in April. Only FilmLA issued a response, and the City is negotiating a contract.
At Planning and Land Use Management is CF 09-1845, the live/work ordinance change intended to make Downtown condos easier to finance through FHA. The item got bumped back to committee by the Council on December 15.
WEDNESDAY: Council's back in session, as are two committees.
At Council, item 7 is CF 08-0923, continued consideration of the proposed ordinance governing the placement of medical marijuana dispensaries.
