Today is Monday, January 25, and this week Council will consider a long list of new park projects and talk about why some Business Improvement Districts haven't been renewed. Also, the new rules for marijuana dispensaries become law and AEG's broadcast studio plans move one step closer.

MONDAY: Public Safety, Budget & Finance, and the Ad-hoc River committee meet.

The River committee will hear an update on the L.A. River Revitalization Master Plan. Reports can be found under CF 07-1342.

Up in Van Nuys this evening, Budget & Finance will discuss and receive public input on the dismal state of the city's budget.

TUESDAY: Council is in session, as are three committees.

At Council, item 2 is a second consideration of CF 08-0923, new rules for medical marijuana dispensaries.

Item 15 is CF 09-1639, a motion asking General Services to find space at City-owned Figueroa Plaza for the new Human Services Department and the Department of Aging.

At Jobs & Business Development, CF 10-0091 is an Alarcon / Cardenas motion that mentions the non-renewal of the Toy District BID and asks for a report on other non-renewals and the reasons that led to their demise.

At Planning and Land Use Management, item 5 is CF 09-3070, changes to the Sports and Entertainment District Plan related to the Olympic North changes that AEG requested last fall.

WEDNESDAY: Council returns, as do three committees.

At a special joint meeting of Housing & Economic Development along with Arts, Parks, Health & Aging, CF 09-2839 is a report on the parks that the city intends to submit for Prop 84 funding. Along with the ones we know, Downtown projects include Gilbert Lindsay Park (outside the Convention Center), Central Avenue Art Park (roughly Temple & Alameda), Central Industrial Park (647 Mateo) and Downtown Riverside Park (540 S. Santa Fe).

At Council, item 3 is CF 09-3030 a public convenience hearing for The Falls, Michelle Marini's proposed bar for 626 S. Spring.

Item 4 is CF 09-3037, a public convenience hearing for the Famima at 700 Wilshire.
