LAPD Looking for Man in Attempted Nightclub Kidnapping
LAPD
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Central Division detectives today released a composite sketch of a man wanted for attempting to kidnap a woman outside a nightclub on the northwest corner of Downtown. The incident took place last Friday evening as the woman left Vertigos Bar & Grill, located at Figueroa and Temple, just on the Downtown side of the 110 and 101 freeways.
As the woman and a friend walked from the club to her car, a man described as Hispanic, 25 to 40 years old, medium height and weight jumped out of a parked vehicle armed with a hammer. The two women were able to fight the man off and he fled in a ’85 to ‘90s model, 4-door, gray-primer Toyota with a partial license plate that began with "2C."
“These types of stranger abductions are very rare,” said Lt. Paul Vernon, commanding officer of the Central Detective Division. “But they are quite serious and scary for the victim and the public. What worked here for the victim was she had a friend with her and they were both alert.”
Anyone who recognizes the sketch or has information about the incident is asked to call Detective John Arredondo, Central Robbery Unit, at (213) 972-1248.
