DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — In his typical last-minute style, Brady Westwater is again helping to put together an event that hopes to bring Fashion Week back to Downtown.
The latest offering, dubbed Concept, will take place March 19-24 at the Spring Arts Tower, filling a runway void left empty as other offerings canceled or chose to skip the March dates.
Partnering on the event is designer Mike Vensel, whose collections have shown at several of the events Westwater has had a hand in putting together.
Designers and sponsors for this month's shows have yet to be named, but Westwater says he's been getting lots of calls in the week since he mentioned the possibility of holding a few shows in the building. He reserved the ground floor space for the week, and hopes to offer designers the chance to stage their visions.
"It's basically about giving the designers the freedom to create their own shows," he explains.
That idea of providing the tools for designers and producers to put on their own shows extends to future seasons. Westwater hopes to see the Concept team develop an infrastructure for runway shows in multiple Downtown venues, giving the setup just enough structure to keep it a cohesive experience for attendees going from event to event.

One correction! We reserved the space for the dates of Fashion Week 19 - 24 and then asked the designers which dates were best for them while we also watched as the other event's dates changed so we would conflict with the fewest number of them. As of today, Monday March 22nd and Tuesday March 23rd are fully confirmed or reserved by a total of sixteen designers.
