DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Concept Fashion Week kicked off its two nights on Monday with runway presentations from Chelsea Rebelle, B:SCOTT and Fremont Apparel Co. It was a packed house for the first-season show, which took place in the old bank space at Spring Arts Tower.
The building's financial history was put to good use, with a video production booth set up in one ground-floor vault and part of Farm Tactics' installation taking up another on the mezzanine.
On the mezzanine were installations by Elmer Ave (who now occupy Fremont's 4th street home), show producer Mike Vensel and Farm Tactics.
Attracting a crowd was no problem for the upstart show, which filled its seats and had standees for all three presentations. It was a crowd that got cuter and more fashiony as the night went on, according to Katie Kay, who had an installation for her new label Otto Gates near the ground floor doorway.
The biggest buzz of the night was for longtime Downtowners Fremont Apparel Co., who are just finishing a move from 4th street to 7th and Main.
The show wraps up its first season tonight.

Thanks for covering Concept Day One. BTW, the name of the company is B:SCOTT, not B.Scott. Small point, I know, but that's what's on the label.
