Day two of the inaugural Concept Fashion Week brought another trio of runway shows to the Spring Arts Tower, with presentations by Jen Awad, martinMARTIN and The Batallion.

The two nights was a definite success in bringing packed houses of press, buyers and fashionistas. The real challenge will be in seeing whether that work can be built into a foundation for future seasons, breaking the string of one-off shows that have popped up in recent years.

FIDM grad Jen Awad kicked things off, with a collection that she said was conceived as if someone from the 1940's were designing the clothes of the future. Billed as an installation, Project Runway alum John Sakalis staged a full runway show in a room off the building's mezzanine level. The show moved back down to the main bank space for martinMARTIN's presentation, which mixed some rich purples and reds into their traditional black and gray palette, and The Batallion.

Upstairs on the mezzanine were installations by Skingraft, Valerj Pobega and Indian Casino. Katie Kay's Otto Gates installation returned on the main floor, with the correct lighting working for night two.

The show will hold an official afterparty tonight at the Crocker Club, located in the basement of the Spring Arts Tower.

The after party is to thank our designers, models, media, many volunteers and sponsors who helped make the first CONCEPT Fashion Week events such a success. The good news is we have so many people to thank. The bad news is we have so many people to thank, no one without an invitation will be able to attend.

Indeed. We got the last couple shows mixed up. The info's corrected now, and we'll be adding shots in from The Batallion this afternoon.
