Crosswalk with Attitude

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Not sure exactly when the modification took place, but the attitude being sported by this crosswalk indicator on Spring street in the Fashion District caught my eye over the weekend.
Located on the east side of the crosswalk midblock between 8th and 9th, it's certainly convincing enough to induce a double-take. Up close it appears that a marker may have been taken to the lens cover to hide the other fingers.

There is another one of these on 6th and Spring... while I'm not a big fan, i did find it creative.

There are about 6-10 of these on Spring. One was funny, now it's just lame.

Oh you cool kids, hating on something when it gets popular. ;)

Way more interesting than most work that you'll find at Art Walk.

Unrelated, but it's time to roll up those garage doors permanently and let the light shine through at night.

Some good news for crosswalks Downtown - the DLANC Sustainability Committee is reviewing mid-block crosswalks that take TOO LONG to change for a pedestrian-friendly environment. We're currently identifying corridors with multiple mid-block crossings that could potentially be changed to foster a more walkable Downtown.
Let us know at sustainability@dlanc.com if you have identified any trouble spots in the neighborhood - and we'll take a look. We plan on reviewing all suggestions at our May 2010 meeting and will advocate for change!
