The earthquake that was felt Downtown on Sunday afternoon has been upgraded from a 6.9 to a 7.2, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Centered near Mexicali, the roll was felt by many Downtowners as it hit at 3:40pm.

Tweets and phone reports have hotel guests waiting out in front, and on the streets cab drivers report of people in cafes stepping outside right after the shaking.

Outside the 7th Street Metro station, where streets are blocked off for a scheduled Baisakhi parade, riders were not aware of any shaking as they stepped out onto Flower St.

Parade detours are causing heavy traffic on 6th Street, where one drivers was trying to call home. "I'm trying to call my sister in Mexico," says Bobby Ramirez waiting at an intersection at 6th and Grand. "The lines are busy, and I'm stuck here."

At Felix Chevrolet, one car shopper said he was looking at a vehicle on a metal stand when it started to shake a little. "It was just enough to get your attention," he said.
