Arashi Sushi Opens in South Park

Arashi Sushi soft-opened earlier this month at 11th and Hope.

South Park residents in search of sushi got their commutes cut down this month when Arashi -- Japanese for 'storm' -- opened its doors at 11th and Hope. The casual eatery serves lunch specials that run from $9.95 to $16.95.

For that you get five pieces of sushi -- one each of tuna, salmon, albacore, white tuna and white fish -- plus one main item and a miso soup. A la carte offerings include sushi rolls, soups, salads, and hot and cold appetizers.

The menu is also available for take out.

Art on the wall is the creation of Samantha Turnbull. The pieces depicting music icons such as Madonna, Prince, and Jimi Hendrix are just hanging while Turnbull creates new work for the restaurant, but owner George Peykar says the current installation has gotten quite a lot of notice.

Right now the establishment is in its soft opening phase. They've applied for a beer and wine license, and a happy hour is a planned addition once that is approved. For now you can enjoy iced green tea and fountain drinks.

Arashi Sushi / 1111 S. Hope St #100 / 213. 749.1900 / Open Monday - Friday from 11am to 11pm (closed 3-5pm daily)

yipee...another restaurant in my neighborhood...very much welcome compared to the overpriced Katsuya at LA Live...and with better food. Been here twice already. Try sitting at the bar when you go. It's a whole lot of entertainment watching and interacting with the chef's while you eat and they cook.

My husband loves sushi but I don't. We got food from this restaurant to go (I had chicken teriaki) and we both liked it. We're so thrilled everytime a delicious new restaurant opens close to home!

Does anyone know what's going in next to it, in the vacant space on the corner of Hope & 11th?

The toro is served in a bowl and placed atop a bed of yamagobo (ginger root) to make it seem to jump out. -Any Lab Test Now Franchise
