Cupcakes Changed at Lot44; Blue Cupcake Out, Delilah In

Those keeping score in Downtown's cupcake wars will want to make note of a substitution at Lot44 Coffee. Owner Ariel Graham last week brought in sweets from Echo Park's Delilah Bakery to replace her previous offerings from Blue Cupcake.

Lot44 added cupcakes to its lineup in July of last year. It has since been joined in the gourmet cupcake arena by Big Man Bakes on Main street and BabyCakes on 6th.

The coffee shop's first delivery from Delilah came in last Wednesday, and contained red velvet, chocolate, peanut butter and Jack Daniels flavored cupcakes, each a little bigger than the previous offerings.

The Jack Daniels is a chocolate cake cupcake with miniature chocolate chips baked in and a cream cheese based, Jack Daniels-infused frosting with chocolate nib sprinkles.

The cupcake flavors reflect Delilah's influences. "Delilah is a Southern-style bakery," owner Genevieve Ostrander explained. "We serve items such as whiskey bread pudding, and minature pies like strawberry-rhubarb and key lime."
