DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — When ESPN's X Games came to Los Angeles in 2003, the area around Staples Center was a sea of parking lots perfect for the construction of the extreme sports event's seven-story tall mega ramp and skate park.
Construction for L.A. Live sent many events packing for the Home Depot Center in 2007, but ESPN and AEG today announced that they're cutting the commute for 2010, bringing X Games 16 back Downtown.
L.A. Live's Event Deck, located behind Nokia Theatre, will host the skateboard and BMX park and street courses. BMX and skateboard vert will take place inside, on Nokia Theatre's massive stage.
The big ramp had moved inside Staples Center in recent years, but for 2010 it will move down Figueroa to the Los Angeles Coliseum. The historic venue will host skateboard and BMX big air, Super X, Moto X Freestyle, and rally car racing.
Staples Center will host only Moto X events, specifically Speed & Style, Step Up, Best Whip and Best Trick.
X Games 16 will take place July 29 through August 1.

The question is... will I be able to use my press credentials to sneak in and skate the street course this year? We shall see.
