The massive parking garage at Macy's Plaza will become a one-night drive-in movie theater this Wednesday, as MGM screens its 1988 film 'Killer Klowns from Outer Space' as part of a promotion for drive-in programming on the MGM HD channel later this summer.

Despite the drive-in setup, those arriving without vehicles are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the show just the same.

The free event is timed to coincide with the National Cable and Telecommunications Association's The Cable Show 2010, going on this week at the Convention Center.

Festivities will include a raffle and free snacks and drinks. Movie-watchers can start grabbing seats or parking spaces at 6:45pm, with the show starting at 7:45pm. Outside food is allowed, but alcohol is not.

The studio describes the film as a "comedy/horror cult classic! A small town is invaded by aliens who capture and kill the townspeople, but no one takes them seriously. Why? They look like circus clowns, with cotton candy ray-guns, lethal balloon animals and killer shadow puppets!"
