Today is Monday, May 24, and on the agendas at City Hall this week are transit cuts and fare hikes for DASH, a statue of Cyrus the Great for Pershing Square and monument status for a pair of Hill street buildings.

MONDAY: Public Safety and Budget & Finance committees meet.

In joint session with the Transportation committee, Budget & Finance will consider CF 10-0082, final recommendations on the transit cuts and fare hikes that were first proposed in January. The DASH fare hike is filed under CF 10-0663.

TUESDAY: Council is in session, as are four committees.

At Arts, Parks, Health & Aging, CF 10-0826 is a motion to authorize the installation of a statue of Cyrus the Great, a Persian emperor from 600 B.C., at Pershing Square. The statue would be paid for by the Delajani family, owners of several Broadway theaters. The nearby intersection of 7th & Broadway was dedicated as Ezat Delijani Square last June.

At Planning & Land Use Management, CF 10-0717 would add the Spreckels Building at 322-324 W. 7th and 708-716 S. Hill to the city's Historic Cultural Monument list. CF 10-0718 would do the same for the Sun Realty Company building at 629-633 S. Hill.

WEDNESDAY: Council meets, as do three committees.

At Education & Neighborhoods committee is CF 10-0777, a motion to consolidate the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment and the Community Development Department. Neighborhood Empowerment is the city department that oversees and administers neighborhood councils.
