Today is Tuesday, June 1, and the topic of the week at City Hall is murals, particularly how to separate their regulation from that of commercial signs.

TUESDAY: Council is in session and four committees meet.

A joint meeting of the Arts, Parks, Health and Aging committee and the Planning and Land Use Management committee will attempt to untangle the issue of murals and how to correctly separate fine art from rules on commercial signage. Items come under CF 08-0515, CF 08-0530, CF 08-0530-S1 and CF 08-0479.

At Council, item 8 is CF 09-2314, a note-and-file of the Convention Center audit.

WEDNESDAY: Council meets, as do three committees.

At Public Works committee, CF 10-0417 is a motion that asks for a certification process to be set up so that companies getting contract preference as small, local businesses actually be small, local businesses. Currently the city only looks for a mailing address.

At Council, CF 10-0657 is a joint effort between DWP and the CRA to develop a web-based economic development system that would show property listings and incentive information. The project is estimated to cost $300,000 over three years.
