A team competes in the 2009 hose pull contest, which requires the hose be unrolled via an old-fashioned cart, hooked up to the hydrant and nozzle, and used to knock a cone off its pedestal.

Hope for Firefighters returns to Bunker Hill on Thursday for an afternoon of food and sport in support of a good cause. The event, now in its thirteenth year, runs from 11:30am to 2:30pm and features firefighter muster games, live music and meals prepared by twenty-five fire stations from across the city.

Corporate teams will compete in the muster games, which require entrants to perform firefighter tasks including an old-fashioned hose pull and bucket brigade.

Proceeds from the team sponsorships and food sales benefit the Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Association’s Widows, Orphans and Disabled Firemen’s Fund.

The event takes place on Hope street, between 3rd and Hope Place.
