Today is Monday, June 14, and this week finds LAPD staffing and facilities, Cleantech and special events on the council's calendar.

MONDAY: Three committees meet.

At Public Safety, item 3 is a verbal presentation from LAPD on the staffing and operation of the Metropolitan Detention Center at Temple and Los Angeles. The facility's opening was held up last year due to short-staffing.

Budget and Finance will hear CF 09-2862, a plan to move LAPD's Scientific Investigation Division Tech Lab from Parker Center to Piper Technical Center. The lab is one of the last pieces operating inside the former LAPD headquarters building. The $9.9 million project involves moving the LAPD Supply Section into the Piper Tech basement.

At the Ad Hoc River committee, CF 09-1737 is a presentation of the results of the recent ULI Cleantech study.

TUESDAY: Council meets, as do two committees.

At Council, CF 09-0139-S1 is a closed session discussion for the council to "confer with its negotiators" about the potential lease of city parking garages, including Pershing Square.

WEDNESDAY: Council is joined by three committees.

At Housing, Community and Economic Development, CF 10-0772 is a modification to a joint powers authority with the state that was used to build the Ronald Reagan Building (300 S. Spring) and renovate the Junipero Serra Building (320 W. 4th). The city must give the state the right to sell the buildings.

At Public Works committee are a pair of motions related to special events. CF 09-3044 would allow non-profits to pay their special event fees in installments rather than all at once. CF 09-3042 would require event producers to conduct notification around their proposed event and asks Public Works to create an e-notification system similar to FilmLA's.
