CB1's Clyde Beswick during Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk for June, 2010.

Clyde Beswick of CB1 Gallery was one of the few curators not holding a group show during June's Art Walk. Instead, he was exhibiting a solid solo show with Chinese-American artist Fang Ling-An.

While that was going on, the "group show" of food trucks appeared to have their largest showing since the trend began. Art Walk organizers have hoped to use the trucks to help spread foot traffic out, but the quest for business seems to still push the vehicles to the clogged sidewalks on Spring between 4th and 6th and the corner of 6th and Main.

More galleries were seen doubling as event venues, continuing a pattern that has been on the rise for a year. If you are interested in the art, explore from 5:30 to 7:30pm. That way you have the choice to escape before inside spaces are turned over to a DJ.

Seeming to strike a good balance is Crewest, which has consistently shown how to keep a DJ as background to the art rather than the other way around.
