Saturday: Retro Night Brings Big Bands to Chinatown's Central Plaza

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — While it may seem old now, "New" Chinatown was dedicated in 1938 as a replacement for the neighborhood displaced by the construction of Union Station.
For its 70th Anniversary in 2008, Chinatown used restored neon and big band music to recreate the days when Hollywood stars would escape to the enclave for dining and dancing.
That party keeps rolling this Saturday, as the anniversary is highlighted with 1940s and 1950s swing music and dancing on June 26 for the 72nd Anniversary.

The band is Flattop Tom and his Jumpcats, I've heard and danced to their music and they're great, don't miss it!
