Celebrity Tops Talent in Shot from the Top

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — For the second year in a row, experience and skill lost out to celebrity and luck during a "Shot from the Top" to promote the upcoming Nike 3 on 3 tournament at L.A. Live. While new Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro and former Laker Rick Fox each missed a trio of shots from a 3rd floor balcony off Nokia Plaza, actor Jeremy Piven needed just one attempt to nail his shot and start trash-talking.
Last year, actor David Arquette bested Laker guard Derek Fisher during the competition, but Fisher got the last laugh when he nailed the shot while Sportscenter's cameras were rolling.
During introductions, AEG VP of Communications Michael Roth noted that the company was keeping an eye on Piven's "Entourage" character arc this year. Piven's super-agent Ari Gold is attempting to bring an NFL team to Los Angeles, while AEG is involved in a proposal to build a football stadium next to Staples Center.
The Nike 3 on 3 tournament is expected to bring up to 1000 teams to the entertainment complex in two weeks.
