Today is Monday, August 2, and the L.A. Mall, City Hall food, the Wilshire Grand and the Broad art museum are all on the agendas at City Hall this week.

MONDAY: Public Safety and Budget & Finance committees meet.

Budget & Finance will hear a number of items related to the city's efforts to get a 10% reduction in the cost of its contracts. Updates will be given on vendors who have agreed to the reduction and on contracts up for renewal where a savings might be seen.

TUESDAY: Council meets, as do four committees.

At Information Technology and Government Affairs, CF 10-0142 is supposed to be a report by GSD on the cost to operate the Los Angeles Mall next to City Hall. The item was continued in April.

The very next item is CF 10-0876, perhaps the first and only council motion to quote French gastronomist Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin ("Tell me what you eat, I'll tell you who you are"). The motion asks that the RFP for an operator to run City Hall's second floor cafe include scoring based on sustainability, health and community stewardship.

At Planning and Land Use Management, CF 10-1326 is a communication from the Mayor's office regarding the appointment of Michael LoGrande as new head of the Planning department. The item goes to Council on Wednesday.

WEDNESDAY: Council returns, again with four committees.

At Housing, Community and Economic Development is CF 09-2540-S1, an MOU between the City and the Hanjin International Corporation regarding the replacement of the Wilshire Grand.

CF 10-0400 asks that the Planning department, Housing department and CRA report back on ways that more Downtown developments can be incentivized to provide affordable housing.

CF 10-1256 is a CRA report on its approval of plans for the Broad Collection to build a museum on Grand Avenue.

At Council is CF 09-0756, a $750,000 increase in the city's contract with SRO Housing Corporation.

At Public Works committee is CF 09-3042, a twice-continued motion that would require special event sponsors to handle notification of nearby residents and businesses.
