DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Robert Rodriguez's "Machete" held its Los Angeles premiere at the historic Orpheum Theatre on Wednesday evening, bringing a colorful convoy of lowriders to Broadway.
The vehicles were used to deliver the film's stars to waiting photographers, who lined the sidewalk from 9th street to the theatre.
Northbound traffic on the street was diverted for the occasion, though buses were allowed to continue on their normal route. The street was reopened soon before 9pm.
"Machete" stars Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro and Jessica Alba. It opens on September 3.

Didn't they show a preview for this during Grindhouse? I figured it was a joke and would never actually be made into a movie. May have to see it!

Good for the Orpheum, but really... only in LA could you get people to line up all the way around the block for a movie that was meant as a joke..
