DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — They came from Arizona. They came from New York. They came from places like Metropolis and Gotham City, and, allegedly, arrived by invisible jets, human flight, teleportation, and Batmobile.
In the end, 1560 superheroes arrived at LA Live on Saturday morning to gain the Guinness World Record for the "Largest Superhero Gathering."
The event was part of a monthlong series of events to promote the upcoming animated feature, "MegaMind." The film's star, Will Ferrell, was presented with an "megasized" certificate from Guinness World Records representative Stuart Claxton, who was joined on stage by Dreamworks SKG chief Jeffrey Katzenberg and the film's director, Tom McGrath.
McGrath instructed the numerous Batmans and Spider-Mans in the crowd to battle each other.
Ferrell suggested that everyone break another record by keeping their costumes on for the entire month.
Calls left with the LAPD if Downtown crime stats were affected by the superhero gathering were not returned by press time.

Photo 17 really captures how the shape of Will's head resembles that of the blue guy.
