A crosstown college rivalry will be settled with fisticuffs Friday night at the Los Angeles Athletic Club as the L.A. Collegiate Boxing Invitationals headline a main event between UCLA and USC.

The evening’s lineup features bouts between members of four teams. Gio’s Boxing Gym out of Burbank, West Point Military Academy and the boys from our local college clubs will face off against each other inside the ring in a lineup of one on one matches at this National College Boxing Association (NCBA) sanctioned fight.

While gambling is against league rules, most friendly bets are sure to be between UCLA’s Ian Cruz and USC’s Jeff Sacha, both grad students at their respective schools. USC won two years ago in the schools’ first one-on-one matchup.

The NCBA is comprised of 36 boxing teams nationwide, and is part of USA Boxing, which oversees the Olympic boxing team and ensures the fights are kept clean.

Boxers will wear Olympic regulation gloves and headgear, and a bout’s winner is determined through a point system based on number of hits made with a marked part of the glove to the side or front of the opponent’s head or body.

Also to keep it clean, ring card girls will be appropriately attired in no less than a t-shirt and shorts.

Tickets start at $65. Higher tier tickets allow access to a post party on the roof - $100 for ringside seats, or $125 for dinner and VIP balcony seats.
