DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Among the events for veterans today was SRO Housing Corporation's seventh annual Veterans Day Luncheon.
The event, held in the organization's James M. Wood Community Center at 5th and San Julian, attracts between 130 and 140 veterans each year. Already, approximately 90 had arrived and been served by 11:30am.
Councilwoman Jan Perry's office and Downtown law firm Alston & Bird, LLP sponsored this year's event, which featured musicĀ and prize raffles.
Just a few blocks away, ROTC soldiers saluted veterans at the Union Rescue Mission's Veterans Day event, which featured a color guard salute, flag-folding ceremony and a lunch sponsored by the Daily Grill.

AS veterans living in skid row and SRO HOUSING , we would like to thank Don Garza for starting this event when he lived at the Southern Hotel when he was in skid row. If it wasn't for him this would not be happening.
Thank you Don Garza
