Police are searching for a couple who this week robbed a Jewelry District store at gunpoint, making off with $8000. Their heist at Diamano Fine Jewelry was caught on video, and detectives hope that may be the ticket to a quick arrest.

“This is among the best video of a robbery I’ve ever seen,” said Det. Alfredo Rasch, who is assigned to the Central Robbery Table. “The man with the gun seems to be the brawn in the case, while the woman seems to be the brains.”

The robbery took place at 3pm on Tuesday, December 14.

The store is located on the 5th floor of the Mitta Jewelry Center, at 404 W. 7th. The building is one of many in the neighborhood devoted to jewelry uses.

“We’ve had a number so-called ‘smash and grab’ robberies recently in the jewelry district, and we’ve made a number of arrests, but this kind of armed robbery is a different MO and the man-woman pairing is unusual,” Det. Rasch said.

Anyone who recognizes the pair is asked to call Detective Lisa Schueller, Central Robbery Unit, at (213) 972-1248.
