Spray from a passing bus narrowly misses pedestrians at the corner of 9th and Broadway.

Downtown got soaked with the rest of the Los Angeles region today as a set of winter storms continued to make their way through the region. According to the National Weather Service's monitoring site at USC, the day's heaviest rain came in the 1pm hour.

The season's first major rainfall could be seen putting strain on Downtown's often clogged-up storm drains. At 9th and Broadway, standing water accumulated near the Eastern Columbia building posed a particular hazard for unwary pedestrians in range of vehicle spray.

It wasn't all bad, though — on Saturday afternoon a photo shoot was seen using the spray to stage shots of an umbrella-holding model getting soaked.

Storms are expected to continue through the first half of the week.
