Louis Scott and Elica Lopez, who were caught on tape stealing $8,000 from a Jewelry District store, were arrested and charged last night.

The duo known as "Brains and Brawn" who robbed a Jewelry District store last month were arrested and booked last night after the LAPD received a public tip.

33-year-old Elica Yolanda Lopez and her accomplice, 41-year-old Louis McHerron Scott, were caught on tape robbing Diamano Fine Jewelry on December 14. They managed to get away with $8,000 but were arrested on Thursday evening.

Both Scott and Lopez have a history of drug convictions and are currently being held by LAPD under felony charges. Scott's bail is set at $255,000. Lopez has no opportunity for bail.

The robbery, which took place at 3pm, was out of the ordinary. "This kind of armed robbery is a different MO and the man-woman pairing is unusual,” LAPD's Det. Alfredo Rasch said at the time of the event.

I've said it before but I'm going to say it again. Great work LAPD. And, thank you to the tipster. Way to make the community work!

At first glance I couldn't decipher who would be the brains or the brawn. Then I realized the name was dubbed for the sheer irony.

I am sorry to see such a wonder person end her life with life in prison. I have known Elica for over 15 years. She got caught up in the L.A. Life not by choice, but by life and death. The streets are mean. They ate her soul away. I know if there was more Rehab Centers for young people like Elica her life could have been better for her and the young people. It is a waste of tax payers money to keep housing prisoners with drug addiction when there are much better and less costly ways to help these people. I personally had to move back to my State because of the lack up help there in California. Today, Thanks to my State. I am a much better person and community leader. Sincerely, Mass./Boston
