Cirque Berzerk onstage at Club Nokia
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Burlesque circus group Cirque Berzerk began its' one month residency at Club Nokia last weekend, moving across Downtown from a red and white tent at the Los Angeles State Historic Park to a state-of-the-art concert venue at L.A. Live.
While many of the diehards who have followed the show since its inception at Burning Man have criticized the change, the show is now accessible to a wider audience with better facilities, equipment and amentities.
This is not your Ringling Bros. circus of yesteryear.
The alternative show is filled with punk rock stilt walkers, clowns and sexy aerialists. While a solid storyline may be missing or hard to grasp, the troupe's performance is still stellar and entertaining.
Some may be turned off by the slightly risqué theme, but any open-minded lover of arts should appreciate the great costumes, ambience and stage design.
The performers and vendors interact with attendees during intermission, making for an all-around pleasant vibe. AEG / Goldenvoice has done an outstanding job of transforming Club Nokia into a contemporary theatre space and taking risk on a one month residency. The best seats can be purchased for half the cost of a typical Vegas performance and are comparable to your average concert ticket price.
Shows run through January 30.
We've got five pairs of tickets to give away for the 11pm show on Friday, January 14 Saturday, January 15. To enter, just sign in and tell us why you should be picked to go see the show. Contest closes on Thursday at 10pm.

I LOVE Cirque Berzerk!! We saw them a couple of years ago at the State Historic Park, and the show was truly special. The pre-party was awesome; there was a live band and many of the performers and clowns hanging around to set the scheme, followed by a mind blowing performance. Unfortunately, even with the relatively cheap ticket prices, we are too broke to afford it this year. I would REALLY love to see them again!

I should win because my 2011 has been sucking ass! Let's turn this year around with a little Cirque Berzerk action.

A friend of mine went last year, and had only glowing reviews to share. Have been seriously considering going this year, but wasn't sure I could get any friends to go with me due to the ticket prices. So scoring a free pair would be awesome!

I should win because I read blogdowntown everyday. I missed seeing them at the state park, and still would love to see them at club nokia.

A circus with a dark theme sounds fun! We'll dress in our finest circus wear!!!

I saw it last year and it was amazing. I am really interested in seeing how they adapted the show to the new venue.

I would love to go and think I should win because I am a child at heart and have fun memories of visiting the circus. Now, as an adult this would allow me to experience the "grown up" circus ;-)

I should go to Cirque Berzerk because the only "Burlesque-type show" that I've ever seen was @ Jumbo's Clown Room. Prove to me that Burlesque isn't just strippers in noir-ish costume! I dare ya!
We'll dress in our finest circus-wear as well, and like Fernando, my 2011 has sucked thus far too!

Ooh, an adult-themed circus! No kids crying in the audience, no babies spitting up on me, and crazy sexy coolness right in front of my eyes! That's why I want to go.
Plus, the last time I tried getting tickets, my boyfriend and I broke up, so I ended up nursing a broken heart instead.

The circus has evolved into an elaborate and imaginative performance art that thrills the senses and inspires to great heights the possibilities of what man is capable.
Saw Cirque Berzerk a while back and would love to see how it's grown;)

I've been wanting to buy tickets for my husband and myself, since his birthday is coming up at the end of the month (hope I didn't give away the surprise!), and since we regret never buying tickets for their show in the LA State Historic Park -- especially after a friend of ours went and gave rave reviews about it. I don't know if they kept it, but last time they had a gay routine, about which he said, "It was nice to see our people represented in the circus."

I have never seen one of their shows, have always listen to how great of a performance and entertainment is done. I would love to visit this event in order to experience all of this excitement produced by everyone.

Been hearing about Cirque Berzerk for a couple of years but have never checked them out. I need a cool date, an excuse to see them, and all while checking out the Nokia Center for the first time too.

Clowns! I hate clowns! They have terrorized not only my childhood, but even now as I quiver writing this comment. If I can somehow disassociate the traumatizing face painted tyrants from the overall circus going experience, perhaps I can salvage some piece of joy from events such as these. Please help me!

I loved the circus as a kid but then I started getting concerned about the animals and couldn't enjoy it anymore. This would be a fun return to the circus!

Help me, Help my Best Friend out of his sad situation :(
My Best friend has been laid off from the school district for this past year. He's trying very hard to find another job, but each day makes him sadder. I think seeing this live show will cheer him up. Plus, I want to set him up on a blind date with a pretty girl I know.
Whatdya think ?

As a person who resides and works downtown I believe I am the best choice to win these Cirque Berzerk tickets. I am also the most responsible choice. Responsible because after a few cocktails I will be able to walk home rather then drive. Send me, I am the green choice, the safe choice, the right choice. Love the blog, love downtown and would love a night at the Cirques!
