Police officers had a busy night on the streets of Skid Row on Sunday, investigating an officer-involved-shooting at 5th and San Julian and a dead body found outside the post office at 7th and Kohler.

Central Division officers responded to the James M. Wood Apartments around 10:30pm after receiving reports of a man pointing a gun at people on the sidewalk. According to police, witnesses say that the man was upset over someone stealing his laptop. The man had returned to his 4th floor apartment by the time police arrived. Officers shot him when he emerged suddenly before they had made contact. The suspect is expected to live.

A few blocks away, Postal police officers this morning discovered the body of a man who had been fatally stabbed in the neck and chest outside the post office at 7th and Kohler. The victim was between 50 and 60 years old, and no suspect or weapon was found. Newton Division officers are investigating that scene.
