Take a Class in Microbrew Appreciation at Public School 612

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Get your beer glasses ready: class is in session at the Daily Grill's Public School 612 in mid-March.
Daily Grill fans may have noticed construction underway inside the Downtown landmark. Grill Concepts, which runs Daily Grill's 21 locations and seven The Grill on the Alley locations nationwide, expands its empire with a new twist: 21st century gastropub cuisine paired with a wide selection of microbrews.
For Bob Spivak, the Founder and CEO of Grill Concepts, inspiration came from Downtown's up-and-coming bar scene. "Downtown bars have changed so much that it was time to change ours," Spivak said.
The bar, which will replace the bar at Daily Grill, will focus on offering a unique selection of 20 draft microbrews as well as 15 different bottled and canned beers. "The bar features no nationally advertised beers and an educated staff that will understand the draft beers and different styles," Spivak said.
Public School 612, which was named in reference to New York City's public school system, will offer "an eclectic menu of American tapas," according to Spivak.
In addition to its extensive beer list, PS 612 will also feature six to eight signature cocktails and several single malt scotches and bourbons.
Curious about Public School 612's look? The company recently posted a rendering of the upcoming space on the bar's Facebook page.

I like this. Now someone needs to open a liquor store carrying cool beers. Ralphs sure has been the ultimate disappointment in that department.

I will be there. I will take classes. I will sample every beer.

Matt:
If they aren't already, Two Bits Market on 5th should be carrying craft brews soon.

Market on Main has a pretty fun beer collection. Not a lot of beers but beers from smaller brewers in the US and some bigger name overseas' beers

I love this! It's awesome to see more and more unique and truly creative businesses open in Downtown. Every day Downtown has more and more to offer!

I know it's not in downtown but a wide selection of craft beers is always available at Galcos in Highland Park. Like two grocery store aisles worth of selection!
And, you can affordably taste a lot of variety because they give you the choice to buy just one bottle, not the whole 6-pack.
