L.A. Event Center Proposal by Gensler Gensler

Gensler was one of three architecture firms chosen as finalists for the job of designing AEG's proposed stadium.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will be among the speakers at a Tuesday morning press conference that will provide "new milestone announcements" for the L.A. Event Center, the NFL stadium that AEG is proposing to build next to Staples Center and L.A. Live.

The briefing will take place in the Convention Center's West Hall, a building that would be torn down to make way for the stadium.

Also on the attendee list are AEG CEO Tim Leiweke, Casey Wasserman of the Wasserman Media Group, "elected officials, business leaders and other key stakeholders." The plan yesterday got the official endorsement of the Central City Association, a business advocacy group located Downtown.

Leiweke was at City Hall last week to make the first official presentation of the company's plans to the City Council. A pair of motions connected to the stadium effort had been set to go to Council yesterday, but were continued until February 2.

While an announcement sent out this afternoon was vague on details for Tuesday's event, the company had said in December that it hoped to select an architect within 30 days. Gensler, HKS and HNTB were selected as finalists from an initial request for proposals sent out in November.
