Today is Monday, January 31, and staffing for the Metropolitan Detention Center, cost-cutting measures to balance the budget and study of AEG's stadium plan are on City Hall agendas this week.

MONDAY: LAPD's not-yet-opened Metropolitan Detention Center goes before a joint meeting of the Public Safety committee and Budget & Finance committee as CF 10-1046. Still under debate is the staffing needed to get the complex open.

LAPD officers will get to drive their T3 electric three-wheelers on the sidewalk if the Council approves CF 10-0367. Currently the "electric carts" are forbidden from the sidewalk by state law.

Council's budget roadshow gets underway with a 6:30pm session of the Budget & Finance committee in Northridge (PDF agenda). The public is asked for its budget priorities.

TUESDAY: Council meets, as do two committees.

Cost-cutting measures come to the Council as CF 10-0139-S2. Included is an instruction that the CAO and CLA investigate a standard citywide closure day.

29 Angels Walk stanchions will get installed around Downtown under CF 11-0064. The 29 will replace existing locations that have been damaged or destroyed.

The future of the city's TV channel goes before a joint meeting of the Information Technology and Government Affairs committee and Budget & Finance committee as CF 10-1826.

WEDNESDAY: Only Council meets.

A pair of motions related to AEG's NFL stadium proposal head to Council as CF 11-0020 and CF 11-0023. Additionally, CF 11-0023-S1 authorizes the CLA to find a financial advisor to do an independent study of the numbers on the stadium deal. AEG will be funding the study up to $250,000.

Special Events rules will get tweaked to require more notification and create payment options for non-profits under CF 10-1875.
