Nike's Los Fearless to Bring Hoops to Lower Grand Avenue on Saturday
Lower Grand Avenue will be the scene for Nike's Los Fearless 2-on-2 tournament on Saturday
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — All-Star Weekend action may be centered around Staples Center and L.A. Live, but the hoops action will also go underground on Bunker Hill this Saturday as Nike turns Lower Grand Avenue into the site of a 64-team 2-on-2 basketball tournament.
The action is promised to be a "modified game" that "is faster, fiercer and more intense."
Teams for the event, part of the show company's Los Fearless campaign, were given cryptic invitations earlier this month and then brought to "The Vault" at Staples Center for uniforms and shoes. Only today were the players informed where their halfcourt games would take place.
The tournament will kick off at 11am, with a trophy ceremony scheduled for 6pm.
Clipper star Blake Griffin and the Utah Jazz' Derron Williams are scheduled to be on-site at 3pm for a Q&A session that will be broadcast live on NikeBasketball.com.
