CoffeeBar Opens on Spring
2011 Eric Richardson / blogdowntown
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — CoffeeBar opened its doors on Spring Street this week, serving up a simple—but highly caffeinated—menu of coffee, tea, espresso and pastries.
The space at 600 S. Spring offers both indoor and outdoor seating via a large recessed patio. Owners Michael Leko and Will Shamlian also operate Spring St. bar on the same block, as well as Library Bar and the upcoming Pizzeria Urbano at 6th and Hope.
Inside CoffeeBar, WIFI is up and running and power can be found at both table and bar seats. The cafe opens at 6am Monday through Friday and 8am on Saturday and Sunday, closing at 8pm Monday through Thursday, 10pm on Friday and Saturday and 6pm on Sunday.
With CoffeeBar's opening, the block around 6th and Spring may just be Downtown's most densely caffeinated. Also serving are L.A. Cafe, Syrup Desserts and Spring for Coffee.

Can't wait to try it out!

Hope they get matching chairs. I think they were going for eclectic but it comes off as cheap looking. They clearly put a lot of effort into the rest of the cafe's design...hope they fix this one detail.

"Hope they get matching chairs."
How gay is that? Forget the quality of the product they're selling---their shoes have to match their purses!
Chris, can you recommend any suitable colors for us customers to wear there? We wanna match!

went there today; very sleek & reminds me of some places I used to frequent in New Orleans. A few glitches to work out but I think they will be a definite asset to the neighborhood.. Wifi addicts: there's outlets at the tables along the wall.

The owners kept the old (nice) floors, which is the same terrazzo outside the building on the sidewalk.
Anything else preserved from the pre-Barry Shy years?

Hey, Oscar, let's work up matching outfits and head on over to CoffeeBar. Text Chris, tell him what to wear and have him meet us there!

@RAMDX - What are you, from the 1950's? Sure, everyone that has an opinion on design must be gay.

Checked this place out on Saturday morning. What is this place? Intelligentsia in Silverlake? $3.75 for an 8 oz, mediocre-tasting latte and I feel like I got ripped off. One size larger across the street at Syrup is only 3 bucks, and the house latte at Spring For Coffee tastes way better! Also, they were playing loud, obnoxious hip-hop at 10 a.m. and I could barely hear myself think. I'm not digging this place, but welcome to the neighborhood anyway!

I like the interior, the wifi and abundance of power outlets, but thought the prices were a little bit much.
I also didn't really appreciate the music choices - I like hip-hop as much as the next guy but they were just playing top 40 garbage off the radio, and it wasn't very conducive to conversation or getting any work done.

Classy addition to Spring Street

There's never enough coffee places in the city.
