DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Fans looking to take public transit to Dodger games in the 2011 season will not only have the option of riding the Dodger Stadium Express bus from Union Station thanks to an air quality grant, they'll also have late Metrolink trains to take them to the Antelope Valley, San Bernardino and Ventura County.
Metro today announced that the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee would again be contributing funds to Dodger Stadium transit, with $180,000 of the $450,000 grant going to run new 11pm trains on the three rail lines.
“Today’s action is a 'Double Play' for Dodger fans," said L.A. County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, a member of the MSRC and Metro's board. “Expanding Metrolink service hours and reestablishing our Dodger Stadium Express bus will provide fans across the region an opportunity to avoid traffic, save gas and help improve air quality.”
The 2010 Dodger Stadium Express service carried just under 120,000 passengers and was proclaimed a success by transit planners, but the line's return was dependent on new funding being secured.
Dodger admission tickets will again be accepted as fare on the buses. Service will start with the Dodgers' preseason game on March 28.

Um...I dunno. The season's looking like I'll help the Air Quality by just staying home and listening to the losses rack up over the radio. (Hey...McCourts...sell the damn team)

You know... this is one of those things you wonder after the fact. why didn't gold-line link directly to Dodger stadium? You hear about transit oriented development but here's a case where development oriented transit approach would have been more appropriate. If you've been to San Francisco Giants' stadium, you know how many car trips you could have reduced here.
I live a mile away and I have to drive to see a game. Now that's a shame. I tried walking but pedestrians walk among the cars in line to get into the stadium (like you're selling chiclets at the Mexican border)and have to wonder through the parking lot dodging cars like Frogger.
I have not taken the shuttle service yet. it was canceled 2 years ago when i had season seats. I'll give it a shot this season.

I got an email at my work offering a Metrolink/Dodgers deal for $10 roundtrip tickets. The tickets are good all day you can connect anywhere you want to get you to Union Station then you can take the shuttle from there.
you can buy and print the Metrolink tickets here
