The 2011 Pac-10 basketball tournament gets underway at L.A. Live this afternoon, offering game action inside Staples Center and a free Fan Fest outside on Nokia Plaza.

Each team's band and cheerleaders will hold a pep rally on the plaza in the hours before their first tip-off. Stanford and Oregon St. square off in the first men's game at 6pm, and their rallies will take place at 4:45 and 5pm, respectively.

Also on the plaza is a full-sized basketball court that will host free throw, three-point, knock out and slam dunk contests throughout the weekend—plus a mascot 3-on-3 game at 3pm on Friday—and stations for face-painting and sign-making.

Local teams USC and UCLA play their first games on Thursday, with the Trojans tipping off against Cal at noon and the Bruins taking on the winner of Oregon and Arizona St. at 6pm.

Full schedule and information can be found on the Staples Center tournament website.
