Thursday evening's attempted robbery took place at 610 S. Broadway, part of this line of jewelry plazas.

An attempted robbery inside the jewelry plaza at 610 S. Broadway made for a busy evening in the Historic Core on Thursday as dozens of LAPD units responded to search for a suspect who fled into the nearby Hayward Hotel.

According to police reports, three suspects entered the jewelry center with the intent of robbing it. Shots were fired and one suspect was stabbed in a fight with the shop owner. Two of the three were caught, but the third escaped into the apartment building.

At 8pm, K9 units were searching the building for that third suspect.

Update (11:50pm): LAPD left the scene at roughly 11pm without finding a suspect inside the Hayward.
