Making Sense of Filming Notices

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES — Downtown Los Angeles has long been Hollywood's biggest backlot, a sturdy stand-in for anything from a car commercial background to a New York street scene.
Keeping track of it can be a dizzying task for those who live and work here. Permitting office FilmL.A. has made life easier with its eNotification system, but the volume is still overwhelming. 212 notices were sent out for Downtown in March, and April is currently at 148 notices.
To try to make things a little bit easier, I've put together a web app that collects Downtown notifications and presents them with a map-based interface. It's still rough around the edges, but hopefully it will be useful to some of you out there.

Thanks, Eric. Great idea! This will save me all that time parsing through the gazillion Film LA notices I get by email.

It is a great service. I've subscribed for several years.

Wow, good job. nice way to visualize filming throughout downtown. It could use a little refinement but overall its good. Film La would do right by creating an app for phones and web, and compensate you for your idea, of course.

Any way to keep a link to this app on the homepage?

J-M: That's actually one of my To Do's for today.
