Work is nearing completion inside Hooters' new Downtown L.A. restuarant, which holds its grand opening on Monday.

Waitresses in bright orange hot pants will make their Downtown debut on Monday, as Hooters opens its new 7300-square-foot restaurant across the street from the Los Angeles Convention Center.

A press release sent out by the chain this week touts a 100,000 wing giveaway that will offer the first 100 people who arrive at 11am on Monday free wings for a year. The same deal will apply for the first 100 to arrive on Friday, July 15, at 3pm for AM570 KLAC's "Christmas in July" party.

The restaurant will serve as the radio station's home for live broadcasts around sports events across the street at Staples Center. The FOX Sports station broadcasts UCLA football and basketball games.

The radio broadcasts and 40 televisions put the new restaurant in direct competition with ESPN Zone, located just a block up Figueroa at L.A. Live. That eatery, owned by developer AEG, is aligned with sports radio station 710 ESPN.

Hooters will be joined later in the year by Knights Restaurant, an eatery offering a knights and maidens dining experience ala Medieval Times.

I hate that the bricks were covered up as part of the renovation of that building. It now looks like a big block of concrete.

The building looked better empty, but I suppose additional activity is good. And it's more convenient for convention-goers in the South Hall.

Maybe they can do a joint promotion with Big Wangs!

This puritan's version of a strip club offends me both as a feminist and as a hedonist but whatevs, to each his/her own.

It's hard to tell in this economy whether or not this Hooters will ultimately succeed. L.A. Live is hurting as it is and with discretionary income becoming more and more of a thing of the past for so many people, only time will tell. We can only hope this new Hooters is able to bring in a lot of business.

@VIP tickets...were is it written that LA Live! businesses are hurting? Nobody has shut down in the 2 years the restaurants have been open.

Maybe LALIVE wouldn't be hurting if ticket scalpers like VIP weren't buying all the good concert and event tickets. They have no reason to exist.
